About this cheese

Dutch Grass Cheese (Graskaas) – Fresh, Creamy & Seasonal

Graskaas is a special seasonal Dutch cheese made from the first milk of cows that return to the fresh spring grass after winter. This fresh grass gives the milk a rich, creamy character, which you can taste in the cheese.

The result is a young, soft and creamy cheese with a naturally fresh flavour and a gentle sweetness. Compared to regular young cheese, Graskaas often feels a little richer and more buttery, with a smooth texture that makes it easy to enjoy.

Because Graskaas is linked to the spring season, it is only available for a limited time each year. That makes it a cheese many people look forward to — simple, fresh and full of seasonal character.

Perfect on bread, in sandwiches, on a cheese board or simply enjoyed on its own. A true Dutch seasonal favourite.

Please note: All cheeses are cut by hand, so the final weight may vary slightly from the selected weight.

Gouda Cheese

Gouda is one of the most famous cheeses from the Netherlands and is enjoyed all over the world. It is named after the Dutch city of Gouda, where cheese has been traded for centuries.

Traditionally, Gouda is made from cow’s milk and shaped into round wheels. It is known for its smooth texture, creamy character and rich flavour. The taste depends strongly on the age of the cheese. Young Gouda is mild, soft and slightly sweet, while aged Gouda becomes firmer, fuller and more intense.

As Gouda matures, the colour often becomes deeper and the flavour can develop nutty, buttery and slightly caramel-like notes. Older Gouda may also contain small crunchy crystals, which are a natural part of the ageing process and are appreciated by many cheese lovers.

Gouda is a very versatile cheese. It can be enjoyed on bread, served on a cheese board, melted in warm dishes or eaten on its own as a snack. From young and creamy to old and full-flavoured, Gouda offers a wide range of tastes and textures.
