From Dutch cheese tradition to a small cheese shop in Riga

Hello! We are Kevin and Kristine — the founders of Zelta Siers. On May 1st, 2025, we opened our cheese shop in Riga to share the true Dutch cheese tradition here in Latvia.

From the Netherlands to Riga

Kevin is originally from the north of the Netherlands, a country where cheese is deeply rooted in everyday life and culture. For many Dutch people, cheese is part of simple daily moments — on bread for breakfast, during lunch, or served with drinks and good company. For Kevin, this was no different. Cheese has always been part of his family. His mother runs a cheese shop in Emmen, in the Netherlands, and through this connection Kevin grew up close to the world of Dutch cheese. When Kevin moved to Latvia, he and his wife Kristine wanted to bring a small piece of that tradition with them. That idea became Zelta Siers: a small cheese shop in Riga where Kevin and Kristine share carefully selected Dutch cheeses with customers in Latvia and Baltics.

What we offer

At Zelta Siers, our main focus is authentic Dutch cheese. We offer a wide variety of Dutch cheeses — from classic Gouda in different stages of maturation to cheeses with herbs, spices, and other added ingredients. Alongside our Dutch cheeses, we also offer carefully selected products that pair well with cheese, such as authentic sauces from the Netherlands and traditional dry sausages. From time to time, we also select special cheeses from other parts of Europe, such as mountain cheeses from the Alps, Belgian cheeses, or blue cheeses. These are chosen as special additions to our assortment, while Dutch cheese remains at the heart of what we do. In short, Zelta Siers is a place for everyone who enjoys cheese — from familiar Dutch classics to something new to discover.
