French Emmental Cheese – Mild, Creamy & Easy to Melt
French Emmental from Ermitage is a mild French cheese with the classic large holes that make Emmental instantly recognisable. It is produced in the Vosges region in northeastern France by Ermitage, an independent dairy cooperative with roots dating back to 1931.
This cheese has a mild, creamy and smooth flavour, with a light fruity and nutty undertone. Compared to stronger French cheeses such as Comté, Emmental is much softer and more approachable, making it an easy favourite for everyday use.
The texture is semi-hard to firm, yet still supple and pleasant to slice. Its well-known holes are naturally formed during maturation, giving the cheese its traditional Emmental appearance.
French Emmental melts beautifully, which makes it perfect for warm dishes. Use it grated over casseroles, pizza or lasagne, melted in toasties and burgers, or served cold in cubes on a snack board or in fresh salads.
A friendly and versatile French cheese — mild, creamy and useful in many different ways.
Please note: All cheeses are cut by hand, so the final weight may vary slightly from the selected weight.
