About this cheese

Gouda Cheese Cumin (2 years): This 2 year aged cumin Gouda is a cheese with depth, character, and balance.
After two full years of maturation, the cheese develops a firm, slightly crumbly texture and a rich, savoury flavour with clear notes of caramel and nuttiness.

Whole cumin seeds are evenly distributed throughout the cheese, adding warm, earthy aromas that naturally complement the intensity of the aged Gouda. The result is a full, rounded taste where the cumin enhances the cheese rather than overpowering it.

Made in the Netherlands using traditional methods, this overaged cumin Gouda is a classic choice for those who appreciate well-matured cheeses. Excellent on a cheese board, with dark bread, or paired with a strong beer or a glass of red wine.

Please note: all cheese portions are hand-cut, so the final weight may vary slightly from the selected amount.

Gouda Cheese

Gouda is one of the most famous cheeses from the Netherlands and is enjoyed all over the world. It is named after the Dutch city of Gouda, where cheese has been traded for centuries.

Traditionally, Gouda is made from cow’s milk and shaped into round wheels. It is known for its smooth texture, creamy character and rich flavour. The taste depends strongly on the age of the cheese. Young Gouda is mild, soft and slightly sweet, while aged Gouda becomes firmer, fuller and more intense.

As Gouda matures, the colour often becomes deeper and the flavour can develop nutty, buttery and slightly caramel-like notes. Older Gouda may also contain small crunchy crystals, which are a natural part of the ageing process and are appreciated by many cheese lovers.

Gouda is a very versatile cheese. It can be enjoyed on bread, served on a cheese board, melted in warm dishes or eaten on its own as a snack. From young and creamy to old and full-flavoured, Gouda offers a wide range of tastes and textures.
